“The barrier to success is not something which exists in the real world; it is composed purely and simply of doubts about ability.” Franklin D. Roosevelt
When we hear the phrase, “breaking down the barriers,” we generally think of exterior barriers, such as, the “glass ceiling,” perhaps in the workplace, in acquiring equal pay and/or in climbing the corporate ladder. But what about interior barriers, the ones that are inside of you, the barriers that may be holding you back from becoming your best self? What barriers do you need to “break down” in order to make your dream become a reality? Balanced for Life focuses on the whole person to achieve the clarity to live their best life. It’s never too early or too late to begin. What do you think of when you hear the word barriers?
Let’s Journal About It
Boundaries, No Boundaries, Barriers
Externally. a barrier is a line, a wall, a fence, etc. Internally, a boundary is a healthy approach to setting limits on how we are treated so as not to be at the mercy of others and what they can expect of us. Setting boundaries opens the door to no boundaries. Simply, to not be limited by the emotions we allow others to place on us. This is where we want to be. But, what about barriers? The internal obstacles that limit us and keeps us from moving toward our dreams. Recognizing our internal barriers is paramount to setting boundaries in order to claim the prize, no boundaries! What are the barriers that are holding you back? Are your barriers a result of your nature or your nurture? And what steps can you take to breakdown your barriers?

Journey to a Balanced Life
Find your happy place and go there, physically or mentally.
There was a time in my life when I felt weight defined me. Like 53% of Americans, my goal was to lose weight. I rode the diet-plan roller coaster. I would lose weight and keep if off, for a while, but slowly the weight would creep back on. It was frustrating! Then by gathering personal data on my eating habits and conducting research around how food works in the body, and how the body works on food, I found a solution for life. The secret is a “diet” does not work, learning about good nutrition does. Learning to come to terms with nutrition management was one of the areas where I needed to break down barriers in my journey to a well-balanced life. (Nutrition, Not a Diet – Workshop)

I wanted a broader education. The time never seemed right. After being married for a number of years and having two small children, the Universe whispered, “let’s go,” so, I did in my early 30’s, one degree after another. It wasn’t easy going back to school and juggling a husband, children, and a full-time job, but it was worth it, and when the journey was complete there was plenty of time left for me to put my education to good use. It’s never too early or too late to follow your dreams. Believe, visualize, manifest and trust that when the time is right it will come to fruition. What’s holding you back? Home Is Where the Heart Is:
Setting your home is not about perfection. It’s about personal style. You want to create comfortable ease and flexibility, but there are soft rules used to make your dwelling conducive to your well-being. It is important to create an environment that is functional, inviting, calm and nurturing to YOU. A place to come home to. This goes for your workplace as well.
